Hello, my name is Khalil Salameh and I am a long resident of Windsor Ontario.

As a deeply affected Palestinian-Canadian citizen from Saffa in the West Bank, with roots in Jordan and Syria, and a past affiliation with the Fatah movement, I am moved to action by the verified reports of atrocities against children allegedly committed by certain members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). These reports have been corroborated by respected international organizations such as Oxfam, Save the Children, and UNICEF. It is our moral duty to ensure that those responsible for such heinous acts are held accountable.

In recent years, there has been an alarming increase in incidents involving children caught up in conflict zones. The United Nations reported that over 20,000 grave violations against children were verified across various conflicts in 2019 alone (UN Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict). A significant number of these cases involve IDF soldiers.

In what the ICJ believes constitutes the title of genocide, over 13,000 children have been murdered in Gaza in the last 6 months. This figure is abhorrent and we, as Canadian citizens, must not condone such cruelty without facing the judicial system.

Canada has a robust legal framework under international law, which allows it to prosecute war crimes regardless of where they were committed. This legislation should be utilized to hold returning IDF soldiers accountable if they are suspected of committing war crimes.

By signing this petition, we urge the Canadian government to take decisive action and demonstrate its commitment to upholding human rights globally. We cannot stand idly by while innocent lives continue to be lost or ruined due to unchecked violence. Let us demand justice for these innocent victims and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. Please sign this petition today.
